EAST MIDLANDS BOWL

The much awaited East Midlands Bowl fixture between Leicester and Coventry on Friday 28th July has been postponed until a later date in the season.

The Lions Promoter Dave Darcy said: “It is with great regret that we have taken this decision to postpone the match. The event was coming together nicely and I am aware that the team being assembled to represent Coventry contained seven former favourites and it was going to be a very competitive side indeed so it is particularly disappointing to make this announcement.

“With injuries to Kim Nilsson and Pawel Przedpelski during Monday’s televised fixture against Swindon it has left us very depleted and with the news that Erik Riss is missing following his selection to represent his country in the World Games in Poland we concluded that the event was devalued as fans want to see as near as possible a full team of its own contracted riders rather than guests and rider replacement to complete the gaps.

“However, I would assure fans that we are just as committed to help keeping Coventry’s name out there in the media which hopefully will conclude with getting this great club back on track permanently as quickly as humanly possible. We have a full weekly diary of Premiership matches at Beaumont Park between now and the beginning of September so barring rain-offs once our season of official fixtures is concluded it will become clearer as to a suitable date when we can stage the East Midlands Bowl.”
